It's like those DA2 small narration thingies between chapters. I'm ok with that in game, but as promotional material ? Don't know if it's a good idea. Feels like a whole lot of nothing.
I don't think Varric will be a companion this time. He'd need some personal arc, and first his brother ran with the red lyrium idol (causing a mess) then his girlfriend led Cori to red lyrium (causing a mess) then what Solas opens the black city and Varric feels bad and here we go again... Also he's mayor of Kirkwall, no ?

So, I clearly have too much time on my hands and I was taking another look at the images, trying to wrap my mind around the imagery and geomerty being shown in the veil bubble. And I noticed something: If you look at the circles in the image, there is a pattern of having a smaller circle (blue) in a larger circle (green) around the image. Two things. Less interesting: the top circle breaks the pattern and doesn't seem to have a corresponding smaller circle in it. More interesting: the blue circle in the bottom corresponds to the Golden City. Does this mean there may be other spaces similar to the city represented by the other two blue circles? EDIT: Additional image added for clarity cus too many lines.

This 3rd teaser seems to confirm that the two upside down figures in the second teaser mural are indeed elven gods as suspected. As their headresses (right most and centre) are among the seven elven gods that Solas imprisoned.
*squints* Didn't we see those symbols in Trespasser? In the Shattered Library? I feel like we've seen at least 3 of them.... In the Shattered Library, you can find the second from the left over the top of an eluvian in the courtyard where you eventually fight the Librarians. The second from the right you can find over another eluvian somewhere deeper in the Shattered Library as well. More interestingly, you can also find it on a statue near the eluvian to the Elven Mountain Ruins. What that means is a mystery gervaise and I once puzzled over back in a Halla thread a while back. The second symbol seems most likely to be Andruil (looks like a bow, compare to the mosaic of Andruil found various places in Inquisition). The sixth would fit closest to Elgar'Nan as a Sun God to me. Other notes: the first and third from the left fit together like a lock and key so I see them as Dirthamen and Falon'Din respectively (Falon'Din mosaics also have that staff which the third symbol resembles) but all this is speculation which is fun but relatively fruitless.

Just cus I'm already doing it, here: have a fully color-coded set of glyph lines! Note: the purple and pink dots don't necessarily move with the purple and pink glyphs. The dots might be independent. They aren't present on any image that actually moves, so I can't tell. But they seem part of the same respective overall glyphs, to me, so that's how I coded them. The purple dots especially seem too evenly placed both within and in relation to the purple hexagon to not be part of it, imo. And I can't see any dots on the explosion image except for maaaaybe the westmost pink dot? So I didn't bother filling them in. YMMV. Also, looking at this now, I notice the pink dot pattern is broken in the SW corner of the image. It seems to go "one dot in the pink circle, one dot outside the pink circle" as it goes around, but there seems to be an "in circle" dot missing where I'd think it'd be; in the SW quardant, halfway between the southmost and westmost pink dots. Dunno if that's significant. As a final thought: the red circle section is the one that moves the most in the explosion and that's most differently oriented btwn the two images. And I see that you can't even see the 5th red circle in the first image b/c, if it exists in that image, its behind the City's bubble. Again, not sure if there's significance to that.

Who is the Dreadwolf? What if the title was a bit different?
Who is the Readwolf? - A game about a snooty bald elf who just sits around all day and reads books. Who is the Breadwolf - A game about a snooty bald elf who just always wanted to be a baker. Who is the Redwolf? - A game about a snooty bald elf who stalks some girl who goes to visit her Dalish Grandma in the forest. Who is the Fedwolf? - A game about a snooty bald elf who is lazy and just sits around eating pizza all day.

This got me hyped. Artwork is lovely on this and it really sets the stage. Wonder if we get something more in a few days at the Game Awards or if Bioware wants to wait it out still? Personally, I wouldn't mind them being cautious and waiting until summer 2023 to really show something when they would likely have a better idea of where the game is at in terms of late 2023 vs. first half of 2024 release.

The new cinematic isn't a trailer or promotional type thing per se, it's just an in-game cinematic cutscene that they felt okay to show us. It's the same type of thing as Duncan's intro to DAO or Varric's narrated sequences between acts in DAII, or the Varric narration in the Keep. Unofficial Dragon Age Day is a fan-created holiday and not tied to BioWare, it doesn't seem to be the kind of date or event in which BioWare would release an actual trailer, some fan expectations around what will get released by BW on that day are in need of a bit of tempering. Still, an actual in-game cutscene is quite a meaty asset to show on unofficial DA Day, which makes me wonder (along with the 'closing down the year' line in the blogpost) about the likelyhood of something at TGA. I think it was a Mark Darrah tweet or something somewhere where he was saying that the new stuff from DA Day was making him second guess his guess that DAD will be at TGA. Something about the size of the asset for DA Day making sense if you weren't going to be at TGA ( ). Morrigan narrated The Fires Above and wasn't a companion or even an advisor, she just had a key role and arrived for part of the main plot. I could see Varric having a similar sort of key role in the main plot, though due to it being Varric and his presence in the Inquisition in the last game, maybe frontloaded to the front of the game, like maybe he 'recruits' the DAD PC or initially is the point of contact or an initial questgiver or somesuch. Duncan was around in the introduction to DAO then peaced out [well, literally]. He also since DA2 simply is just 'the guy who narrates/tells the stories', as a device. About the geometric circles, it reminds me of moon phase charts, the suggestion of an eclipse, and the representation of the Conjunction of the Spheres from the introduction to The Witcher 3 wild hunt.

I don't think 2018 me would have ever believed we'd still be discussing the semicircles in 2022 and the game wouldn't even be released for another year (or so). I was literally scrolling through thinking- I barely had the energy for this two years ago, I got nothing for it now. I don't want to be a sour puss I wanna be excited but circles aren't going to do it for me.

About the geometric circles, it reminds me of moon phase charts, the suggestion of an eclipse, and the representation of the Conjunction of the Spheres from the introduction to The Witcher 3 wild hunt. I'd say he's definitely going to be the/aconnection between the Inquisition and the new PC in the game. I think there are different outcomes for his role, being an advisor, a Duncan-like role in the first hours of the game or a role like Morrigan being more likely then a companion, again. As I said in the twitter thread, the blog seemed pretty clear in cutting off the possiblity of showing something at TGA. And indeed, the fact that the video was basically ripped off straight out of the game, based on what was stated, makes it even more unlikely that they'll show something Thursday. SW: Jedi Survivor's own marketing cycle could give hope for a short marketing cycle for DAD and a release in 2023, even if the two situations aren't exactly the same, but we'll see, I guess.

A reason for Varric to voice the in game cinematic that explains Solas rather than Dorian would be that Varric always joins the inquisition and always knows Solas. Where as the Inquisitor can choose not to recruit Dorian, and it's possible for him not to have met Solas.

Where as the Inquisitor can choose not to recruit Dorian, and it's possible for him not to have met Solas. Agreed. Given the import state, Varric is a more sensible choice for the narration...plus, his role to likely tie the Inquisition to the new protagonist. I think there are good chances of Dorian having a role in DAD, but it'll probably more tied to the Tevinter plot then Solas' plot, with variations based on the import saves.

If this is the opening narration that hosts its own problems since wow way to start the game in such a boring note compared to Duncan’s narration.

Also, it seems weird to have this kind of scene being narrated to a character in different context then what was DA2…although we lack context. It could be a part of something more in both cases.
