Hm... I've just completed Therum in a playthrough where I went there first. Liara did not perform a mind meld after the mission, so I had misremembered that. I suppose, then, that she only mind melds with you two times, not three times.

If you do Therum first, she doesn't and I don't think she does one if you've only done Noveria before Therum. |

I went to Therum first as I was thinking that Liara would help to shed some light on Matriarch Benezia. At that time, Shepard wouldn't know which side Liara is on. Liara might be assisting Benezia & getting hold of her may help stop Benezia.
After Therum, it was Feros > Noveria > Virmire. Pretty much according to the mission sequence. IMO, it is actually arranged according to difficulty. Therum is really simple & Virmire the more difficult one.

This helps me avoid Liara for as long as possible. Theoretically, after Virmire but before Therum you could have only Tali and A/K as your squadmates. Wrex could have been not recruited or killed. Garrus could not be recruited. Could be a small team. I almost want to try it.

I do Therum first just because Liara is too useful as a squadmate.
Other than that, you have nearly no information to go on as to what missions may or may not be important. It's all "Saren and or the Geth are interested in this" because reasons.

I've always completed the missions in this order: Therum->Feros->Noveria->Virmire. But now I wonder if this order makes more sense: Feros->Therum->Noveria->Virmire. First of all, Feros is more urgent than the others. [...] Any thoughts on this? I've mostly always played it in the following order: Noveria -- Therum -- Feros -- Virmire I do not make Feros a priority because it is a small colony and by the time we hear that it was attacked it most likely that the geth attack there is already over. Bare in mind that the attack on Eden Prime lasted only a few hours at the most. One might assume Feros was another smash and grab so there is probably nobody left there to save. Noveria however only has reports of geth in the area... so an attack might be imminent. You might be able to get to Noveria and uncover Saren's interest there before he can make his move. It's a chance to preempt him. After that I head to Therum to find the Liara because she is a Prothean expert and she'll be useful determining what might lay behind the Mu Relay and she'll be useful on Feros, an old Prothean world. |

I don't hate Liara. I just don't like her pushing herself on me. I have to work on romancing Kaidan or Ashley. Liara basically sits on your lap. Doing Therum last minimizes any chance of her misconstruing my being nice to her with wanting to bang her.

The title is pretty much the order I do the game in in most playthroughs although sometimes I do Therum first and Feros second just to mix it up.

However, I do get what you're talking about. I'm doing a new ME3 in which Garrus didn't survive the SM. Not only do I get a very different experience on Palaven. Then I only have EDI, Liara and James until I recruit Kaidan and then Javik. (I find having the VS logical in who I bring to Eden Prime since it's where it all started and A/K were present.)

You do miss a lot of Javik's banter though that way. |
