High EMS Destroy and the MEHEM aren't too different in the end result far I as know. Destroy blows up EDI and all the Geth right? That alone makes MEHEM better. The real point of it for me is the No Star Child! It isn't so much Shep not dying for me as it it making the end actually feel like part of the ME trilogy instead of suddenly shifting gears being torn out of Mass Effect universe and thrown into Deus Ex 1's ending. My Shepard sided with the Quarians. The Geth were toast already. EDI....ah well, omelettes, eggs, etc..... Nothing against MEHEM, I just prefer High EMS Destroy, worts (Casper) and all. High EMS destroy would be fine if either the relay didn't explode or they acknowledged that galactic civilization, as we know it, was over. The ending completely flies in the face of established facts. All the endings are total messes if you want to view them as "win" endings. Only Refusal by an indoctrinated Shepard is internally consistent. If you don't accept that Shepard is indoctrinated then it's the dumbest one of the bunch.

I've said it before no no no. No one will canonize MEHEM and for good reason, it's terrible. It's canon. It doesn't matter if anyone thinks and wants otherwise. So sayeth The Official Mass Effect LoreMaster Supreme.
It's objectively better than all other endings seeing as one is an inglorious blatant mission failure, two are glorified mission failures that only make sense as indoctrinated "bad" endings and one is a lore contradicting, self contradicting mess. All the Bioware endings are invalid. Only one even allows for any continued Milky Way games if you ignore the ridiculous "we just magically can fix relays now and it turns out we never needed them anyway even though the dependence on the relays were part of the Reaper's design and the codex clearly states..." Oh, forget it. Ugh. Fuck Mac Walters. Squad just abandoning Shepard? To do what? Escape the blast?... of a weapon that is supposed to target the entire galaxy? Where the fuck you going to run to? Joker would not do that. Garrus would never leave him like that. Liara's crazy Shepaard obsessed ass sure wouldn't stand for it.
All things being invalid, MEHEM is the better of the invalids. But at least it has an excuse for being invalid: The modders are restricted by what Bioware has already created, unless they somehow raise the money to have the voice actors come in and read lines and produce profession quality CGI. Bioware has no excuse for the fuckery they created.
I will not argue with you but that is YOUR OPINION stop pretending otherwise.

He's probably talking about how the relay explosions should have caused supernovas. Of course, all the relays have to expend enormous energy to propagate the Crucible wave, and we plainly see that the Citadel Relay's explosion doesn't destroy much of anything, so this isn't a very serious objection.
But yeah, high EMS Destroy as the end of galactic civilization as we know it was my preferred sequel setting.

The ending completely flies in the face of established facts. All the endings are total messes if you want to view them as "win" endings. Only Refusal by an indoctrinated Shepard is internally consistent. If you don't accept that Shepard is indoctrinated then it's the dumbest one of the bunch. Ah your one of those. Shep is not indoctrinated and relays can explode when overloaded. The endings are within lore and fine with me. That's because you're either genuinely ignorant or being willfully ignorant.
First of all they cannot rebuild relays. So nobody is going home. They are stuck in or around Sol for the forseeable future. Samara will never see her daughter again. She is literally in a planet with a population of 1 in a system with a population of 1 and in a cluster with a population of 1. No resources will be spent to reach that cluster. Wrex and Grunt will not just hop on a shuttle to Tuchanka the next day. Grunt will probably be as old or older than Wrex if he ever gets back to Tuchanka. The Turians and Quarians present (that includes Tali and Garrus) may all very well die of starvation. And unless you acknowledge that the Kid lied about destroy Kasumi is a vegetable in the best case scenario. Shepard would definitely be dead. No breath scene possible. The galaxy would be in ruin. The infrastructure is gone. Their will be massive collateral death from starvation, disease, etc. I don't want to get into it but it would take decades just to get into a position where they could even start thinking about fixing galactic civilization back up and once they reach that point centuries to restore things to a semblance of what it was. The Salarians, although relatively unscathed, are cut off from everyone else and their own individual worlds. Everyone is cut off. That's how Destroy should have ended if Bioware wanted to be "edgy and artistic". Given the stakes that's an acceptable term for victory.
As Alanc9 stated, then we could revisit the galaxy far into the future as all these cut off pockets start to reconnect. You'd have all these distinct factions, cultures, etc. as each world (those that could self sustain and survived) being a separate culture from the next, even among their own species. You could reboot the Milky Way. But, nah, carebears for everyone. If you're gonna go carebear the MEHEM carebears better.
Shepard is indoctrinated if I say he is. He basically rolled over and let the Reapers win in Refuse. The games story makes it very clear repeatedly that conventional victory is impossible. Shepard agrees with this. Hackett, leading the fight, agrees with this. It's not an opinion. It's a fact. They are losing. The galaxy map even shows this. Shepard has to act or EVERYONE and EVERYTHING he's fighting for is done. I'd like to hear your explanation for why an unindoctrinated Shepard would betray everyone in the Milky Way, but I won't hold my breath. Truth is I hold all the Reaper win endings as indoctrination and the game events bear this out. Green = Saren. Blue = TIM. Red = Anderson. Blue is the bigger misstep on Bioware's part as you literally do the thing you just lectured TIM on 5 minutes prior. I mean, seriously Bioware? All some Reaper has to do is tell you the same crap indoctrinated TIM believed and Shepard is like... "Yeah, OK. I just got finished arguing with TIM about this 5 minutes ago, but I trust you Reaper kid and I'm going to kill myself to show you how much I trust you." At least Saren isn't fresh in memory. But you don't have to agree. Hey, some people don't agree that the Earth is spherical.

I will not argue with you Best not to argue with facts. You get it. No I won't argue with someone who stouts their opinion as facts. Had my fill of that five years ago and I will not tolerate insults. I'm happy to discuss different opinions but not after I'm insulted. For someone who makes all these claims you have nothing to back it up, I however can refute everything you said with in game lore but it's clear you won't listen I'm done.

All I'm saying is that regardless of which ending sucks the least, its easier to just pick destroy and run with it. We could have had the exact same sort of story told in the Milky Way. If they picked destroy. Make it an Alternate universe even. I dunno, its all good.

Why not make destroy cannon and play as a series of Path Finders whos job it is to reclaim and repair Mass Relays a few thousand years after the original trilogy. Mapping new habitable worlds and previously unexplored systems within the 99% of the milky way that remains unexplored Recovering lost technology and stored memories (If via Protheans) through beacons. Sam acts as a bridge between yourself and an otherwise indecipherable precursor language much in the same way only with no need for Sudoku. Along the way you discover evidence of already established precursor species and find out one of them might not actually be as dead as we thought they were. And now they want their galaxy back. You as the inexperienced Pathfinder now have a new mission. Hey, I kind of like this more than what we got barring a couple of things. Same here.

- Calling out other posters as dumb or disingenuous: not ok
Aside of that may I suggest that if anyone wants to have a more than passing re-run of the OT Endings debate, that we take that to the Trilogy sub-forum.
Thanks.

Thanks. If I told you I could prove the earth is hollow, but I'm not going to because you wouldn't believe me, would you be in the wrong to point out I'm being disingenuous? I know for a fact--a fact--the lore does not support her claims. So what do we call people who intentionally say things that are not true? Honest folk? A person of integrity? It doesn't matter. She tucked tail and ran anyway.
But just so we're on the same page, are we not suppose to acknowledge negative character traits people put on display for the world? If someone says I'm a mean person would that be not OK even if I'm being mean to them? Or is it just identifying someone as a liar specifically?

Well, the hollow earth claim has the disadvantage of having no support from the scientific community. (This isn't the "argument from authority " logical fallacy since we're debating whether we even bother having the logical argument, and in any event there are experts with real expertise in the field.) Are her lore claims equally disadvantaged?
I'm not quite sure what the substance of the dispute is, actually. What lore in particular are you two talking abou?

Are her lore claims equally disadvantaged? I'm not quite sure what the substance of the dispute is, actually. What lore in particular are you two talking abou? I was simply trying to point out that there is enough lore to show that A: the crucible was the only option. B: That the relays could be fixed. None of the endings show them permanently disabled like the "Alpha" relay. C: Atheta wouldn't have suggested building a relay if it wasn't possible. The three most technologically adavanced races (humans, quarians and Asari) could easily fix them perhaps even the Salarians. The EC also shows them fixing them. You may not like the lore or even think it's stupid but it's there. That's all I was trying to point out. He claims that MEHEM is the cannon lore and I was trying to politely dispute it.
