I was ready to buy ME: Andromeda at launch (I don't preorder, even if it means that I'll pay full price 1 day later) but the first gameplays I saw made me raise an eyebrow (I always watch gameplays before buying a game and I must say I did agree with some of the critics even before they were spoken out).
However, I also enjoyed the actual gameplay, so I went for the proper critics/reviewers and...well...and we all know what happened. So I didn't buy it.
Even though I put ME:A aside and went on other games, I heard (who didn't?) that it has received a lot of patches; plus it's on sale right now
So, is it worth getting after all the patches? Does anyone know if there'll be more patches (aka is there anything else left to be fixed)?
And finally, is the deluxe version worth getting?
Thanks in advance

I'd say it's worth $15, maybe $20.

Not a bad game but in my opinion, a bad ME game. But more importantly until we hear some kind of definitive word on DLC or the series continuing, it would be silly to play the first game in what's clearly meant to be a series if it's not going to continue.

The game has been getting patched and there have been considerable improvements. The questions is what do you want as a gamer? Did you play and enjoy the trilogy? For a Mass Effect game I found it disappointing. For a video game in general I find it adequate. It can be enjoyable but it has a lot of grind.

Well the patches have improve the game significantly, the facial animation while far from being perfect are much better than they used to be. I recently started a second playthrought of MEA, my first was when it was released, and the difference is significant. They also fixed a lot of bugs issues, even if there is still is room for improvment on that part.
Gameplay also had changes to make the game more fluids, there is a skip button for space exploration (which saves you a lot of time when you want to do everything in space), the inventory system have been upgraded (instead of having only 80 space maximum, you can now have 200, which definately helps when you want to have a lot of weapons), you can now bypass the sudoku puzzle way more easily by buying keys, that are now not only more available but also less expansive.
The maximum nexus level has also been raised for you to get all the bonuses of viability from 20 to 29.
The multiplayer have also gotten more free content, which includes new classes, more maps, more guns, more balancing fixing, the multi is now more stable. More patches are on the way after the 1.08.
I myself am a huge fan of the ME franchise and I loved this one, so yeah I think you should buy it, especially if it is on sales. That said don't buy the deluxe edition, the things you will get with that are not worth it, go for the standard edition.
Don't hesitate to ask me any question about it.

It's more how much you value the 60 hours it will suck from you without giving you anything valuable in return.

Sure. Don't expect much from the deluxe version. The explorer armor and pathfinder weapons are nothing special compared to standard options, and space gerbil is better than the pyjak, I think.

Yah, I agree with KaiserShep here. I bought the Deluxe Edition, but it's nothing mind blowing. Of course, I did know it since ME2 and ME3 Deluxe Editions were basically the same. The explorer Edit: Scavenger armor has that nice scarf though, that when combined with Tom's VA and Ryder's face it kiiinda reminds me of Nathan Drake. Oh, and the game is worth getting. Since it's on sale I would recomend buying it. Plus, you saw how is the game, you already got the major concept behind it. If you like it, buy it. If it isn't what you were expecting (emphasis on exploration and a good overhaul on combat) then I wouldn't recomend it to you.

To the OP. If you're unsure, wait for another sale. In my opinion it's not a total fail, but knowing what I do know now, I would have waited for it to go down in prize.

If you can have it on sale, then go for it. A lot of patches came out and now lots of bugs are fixed. No, it's not the best ME game released. Storywise, it's nothing close to ME2(ME2 really is a masterpiece IMO), but it's still a good game. The gameplay is by far the best one(I really hated the gameplay of ME1, ME2 meh, ME3 okay). If you liked the Multiplayer before then it's another plus.
The opinion of the people around here really is different. I loved Mass Effect since day one and I liked the new one. As you saw on the web lot's of extreme bashing is popular, thought it always existed since ME3 came out.
Edit: Of forget about the Deluxe edition, you won't miss anything really important.

I'm 30+ hours in and have no desire to play anymore at the moment. I was wandering around Havarl a few days ago trying to decide what to do next and realised I didn't care. Nothing grabs me, not companions, not the story, not the side quests. It's impossible to prioritize when you couldn't care less. This may change tomorrow or I might never pick it up again. So, try it on sale. You might love it, others seem to. But I'm off to either the OT or Skyrim.

My suggestion? If you can play the trial version on Origin, if it's still available, do that. Then decide for yourself.
My personal answer? Yes. Get it. But I'd only get the Super Deluxe if you're interested in the MEA multiplayer.

For a Mass Effect game I found it disappointing. For a video game in general I find it adequate. It can be enjoyable but it has a lot of grind. I did, my preferred one is ME1 (but IMO ME2 story is better). I even dared to enjoy ME3 (although, truth be told, I played it with the Happy Ending mod) To the OP. If you're unsure, wait for another sale. In my opinion it's not a total fail, but knowing what I do know now, I would have waited for it to go down in prize. Problem is, EA sales are pretty scarce (at least in my country). It's 50% off now, which is fine discount My suggestion? If you can play the trial version on Origin, if it's still available, do that. Then decide for yourself. My personal answer? Yes. Get it. But I'd only get the Super Deluxe if you're interested in the MEA multiplayer. Trial is not available here (at least I couldn't find it). I certainly won't touch the multiplayer, I only play SP, I was getting Deluxe for the guns and armour My main concerns are the gamebreaking bugs and the bad writing. The sloppy animations were a matter of concern, ofc, but not that much. Hadn't the game being patched I wouldn't even been bothered about it right now. I'd still get it, but only 2, 3 years in the future. Bugs wise, Assassins Creed 3 almost made me throw my PC through the window. I can't cope with another game like that. And story/dialogues is (mostly) why I play Bioware games. For the gameplay, I watched lots of TY gameplays, then and now, and I kind of liked of I saw. Thing is, I only watch up to the 1st hour of gameplay (in order not to spoil myself too much), so I don't know if things get worse down the line I should had explained myself better in the OP but I feared to be taken as a troll, so I took the least said the better route PS: sudoku puzzles!? Man, I hate sudoku. Too complicated for my tiny little brain

Like you, I didn't pre-order and I kept an eye for when the patches came out. I bought the game after Patch 1.06 dropped at about 1/2 price. As we speak, I'm enjoying it thoroughly, having a lot of fun, and it's running relatively smoothly on my Xbox One console. I'd say... watch a few videos on YouTube from people who are playing it through just now (as opposed to those who started their play throughs with the earlier, more buggy version) and see what impression their videos make on you. People have different tastes and enjoy different things. It's up to you to determine if something interests you or not.

I would suggest getting the game to see Fiend, the best character in the game, grab Ryder, take a big bite out of Ryder, then smash Ryder to the ground like a piece of crap. That scene alone is worth the full price of the game. The patches helped. The game looks better. So yes. Its worth buying

If your on ps4, the standard edition is $30 USD while the deluxe edition is $34 USD. Should be noted that it is on sale till 6/16 and must be a digital purchase, however I think it might still be worth it to get the 34$ edition because they may include free cosmetic content in the future for those that got the deluxe edition and up-like the athletic outfit. blog.us.playstation.com/2017/06/08/days-of-play-sale-save-on-games-plus-membership-more/

Yes. If you liked the trilogy, you should like this game, though it is definitely not brilliant. OK to good IMO. It improves on some elements of the trilogy, but also disappoints in others. Still absolutely worth my playing time.
