It's not a mistake and they been doing from me1. Ok, I just don't think it makes sense, and I don't think that doing it repeatedly across different games somehow makes it logical. That's all. I'm not saying it's gamebreaking or anything. dude. the only thing that can stop cold is insulation. Aka trapping heat. The major tech advances in mess effect are mass effect field based. All mass effect field don't stop temperature being that's effected by the movement of atoms. tech in me does not have anything to deal with the extreme cold out side heated padding and even that has it's limits.

Shhhh, don't poke holes into troll logic, these people need to complain about something it is there reason for existing. At these temperatures in the game, it's not the temperature itself that is all that dangerous, but the ensuing frostbite from directly exposed skin to air contact that is. If you avoid that -40c is not nearly as dangerous as bioware makes it out to be, even with the 21th century clothing we have now. And they're in the future with shielded armour suits and what not. The concept of dangerous cold isn't bad, the numbers are just off and should be more extreme than they are. the mass effect fields don't protect from temperatures. only the suits themselves. add it matter not what you wear. Even if you are cold in heavy covered gear you can get frost bite.

You clearly have played ME1 as well and done the side missions? Like the geth incursion quest? If they had the same thing in ME1 that doesn't make it any less silly. Just saying. Yeah, but then people would be whining about the "retcons" because it doesn't match up to the prior games broken logic.

Sometimes it's good not to read the star maps, lol...
I took the kids out at -28C this winter. Not a typical 'walk in a park' weather for the Moscow region, but far from being deadly (with the proper layered clothing + 'winter' cosmetics for the lips\faces). I bet we could have lasted so much longer with the sealed N7-suits and our helmets on 8P
Anyway, I can't remember MAKO having any kind of problems down there, and their life-support worked just fine too.
Still, does not make their idea of 'extreme and hazardous cold' any better.

Even if you are cold in heavy covered gear you can get frost bite. Sure. Frostbite wont set in in 5 minutes through protective clothing and have you drop dead though. Thing is, I live in a place that's just north of the Arctic circle in latitude. I deal with temperatures like these in real life every winter. Again, temperatures that's dangerously cold as a concept isn't an issue, the ranges presented just aren't extreme enough to be believable with how fast Ryder goes down from being exposed to them.

Hell, Shepard was freezing on Novaria which is normally -1c. though on that mission he was on there was a blizzard and it was colder then the norm. Your case I would say is an issue of being climatized to that weather. others people normal weather is another persons cold. I live in florida so i know first had how people react to what i consider colds. Mean while I'm fine in what ever people think is too hot...in humidity.

I can see the asari being the only one who should have to worry about the cold because of her belly button armor. The others are ok.
In ME3, one of the squadmates makes a comment about the cold right at the start of the ex-Cerberus scientists mission. Even see a few of the scientists fighting back with bare arms.

That would be more of a gameplay issue. like I said it's like that from ME1. I'm not saying it's super accurate, hell we don't play games for that, it just that what's happening here is not new.

That was on Novaria which is -1 c. What does Noveria have to do with anything? Have you been in temperatures that low? Its not that bad. Unless Ryder is outside in the cold for an extended period of time, he/she should be alright

We should have the ability to craft enough gear to counter hazards or cancel them out entirely.

I don't know, as a game mechanic it adds another dimension to the game. You don't have the freedom to sit there behind cover during an encounter and pick off everything all day. Gotta keep an eye on life support as well.

Prove the mission I brought up has anything to do with Noveria? I live in North Carolina. Have been for over 37 years. It gets hot during the summer. I even was in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq. It was very hot. It got up to over 50C at times. When I was in the military I received cold weather training and I was stationed in an area that has cold temperatures.

We should have the ability to craft enough gear to counter hazards or cancel them out entirely. That requires extra power in suits. Power drains over time. that would just mean lasting longer in the elements not canceling them out.
