When I have to pick between two variants of stupid and can't tell them to go frak themselves, most notably at the ending of DA2.
Whenever the protagonist accepts a quest without my input and it's something I wholeheartedly don't care about, like the beginning of the Qunari plot in DA2. But thou must.

Yes, given the circumstances under which the game was made, the result is actually a testament to the determination and perseverance of BioWare's dev team, no doubt. It takes some grit to keep your head clear enough for coding during times of excessive stress.
A friend of mine worked at UbiSoft's QA for a few years and was playtester for WatchDogs, Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Rogue (named Assassin's Creed Comet during testing). She said that the thought of "this wasn't playtested" is almost always wrong. Games get playtested a lot and bugs get submitted a lot, and are then considered low priority unless they are a complete showstopper that prevents you from continuing the game, and are thus not fixed before release. And BioWare's post launch support has never been that great... it always felt almost reluctant to me.

Eh.
I wanted to like that game. I bought it full price on release, and I played it to the end, because the shooting was pretty good. But neither story or characters did much for me, and I was mostly propelled forward by the thought that "it's a BioWare game, it's going to be awesome any time now... any time now..." I got to the end, the awesome never really happened, and it was the first BioWare game where not a single character moment or conversation was memorable to me. If you'd asked me for my favourite quote at the end of the game, I would have looked blankly and shrugged. I had a hard time relating to any of them and the story they experienced.
The potentially most interesting conversations were reduced to codex entries. You have one exchange about the existence of a god with Suvi, which is essentially "Do you think there's a god out there?" - "Yeah / Nah", and then the codex tells you about the spirited religious debates you're having with her. Why wasn't that debate itself in the game?
If Shepard's conversation about the genophage with Mordin on Tuchanka would have been written like that, it would have been Mordin saying "Do you agree the genophage was necessary?" - "Yeah / Nah", and then the codex would have told you about the ethical debate you had with Professor Solus.
I still think it's an okay game if you want some light space adventure, but I feel no desire to put in the time for another playthrough.

It depends on how level differences between you and enemy NPCs factor into the combat mechanics. If the level difference acts as a kind of bonus to offense and defense, making higher level enemies harder to fight through the level difference alone (and not, say, simply because a higher level means more abilities and/or hitpoints), then the player should be alerted of that level difference somehow, but not being prevented from entering a higher level area anyway.
I personally don't like using level difference as a combat mechanics modifier and would greatly prefer it merely meaning more skills, faster reactions and greater toughness instead of acting directly as some kind of armor and damage multiplier.

Live service doesn't neccesarily imply that the SP campaign couldn't be played in off-line mode, right? Not necessarily, no. It all depends on the implementation of said SP campaign. But "will be built on Anthem's code base" might mean just that. Anthem is, as far as I know, always online and while you can set your game to "private" for the story missions, the game will immediately badger you with a text pop-up that informs you that your choice is bad and you should really play with others, even though that tends to make your story experience worse. The story campaign is merely a set of pre-defined missions set in the same map as the normal online play, and playing them in private is technically just playing a multiplayer match with a party size of 1.

Is it true for anyone that the new games on Steam still need Origin as a client launch, and keep crashing on people? It's not happening to me but saw a report of this According to the Steam store page: Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required.No idea about any crashes though.

I chose smaller world, fewer voice actors for the player character and fewer companions/advisors. And a thing that wasn't in the poll.
Smaller world is a complete no-brainer because that wouldn't even be a tradeoff, it would be a win-win. BioWare obviously struggled to fill DAI's large game world with interesting content, so making the world smaller overall both saves resources and makes the game better.
(In a similar logic, it makes no sense to pick fetch quests - these cost resources and make the game worse, especially if they are of the soulless kind that DAI came with. Unless you meant "fewer meaningful side quests and more fetch quests", but meaningful side quests are their own option, so...)
I would be totally fine with fewer companions - 6 would be a-okay. Also makes it less tedious to "make the rounds" after advancing the main story to check everyone for new dialogue.
And the thing not in the poll: a smaller home base for the protagonist. Skyhold was amazing as a sightseeing tour, but way too big as an effective home base. I got tired of jogging around in it to check 9 companions and 3 advisors for more dialogue. I would be fine with something just about the size of its main building.
In return I want a longer main story and more meaningful side quests. I can take or leave the romances.

As long as an armour set's stats fit the amount of skin shown, go for it. By that logic the armor should have a weight value which should affect your speed of movement in and out of combat. Certainly, and the character could have passive skills that measure how familiar they are with the weight of certain armour sets to compensate for that. But it's not very likely to happen, given how armours sets were more stat suits than anything else in DAI.

Curious how people would feel if Morrigan returned as a companion with Mythal Godhood in DA 4? If that "demon" in Tevinter is the Formless One could even see that being her personal quest. Not as a companion please. But she's welcome to kill off Solas in the prologue and mind her own business from then on.

It says something about a creator's opinion of their target audience if they don't trust them to know the difference between somewhat similar names. Readers of A Song of Ice and Fire didn't seem to have any trouble to distinguish between Osha the wilding and Asha Greyjoy, but the makers of the Game of Thrones TV show didn't trust their viewers, so Asha Greyjoy became Yara Greyjoy. Both were fierce women, so people might actually be excused for the occasional mixup. But to be thought unfit to tell the difference between a city and an entire culture feels somewhat insulting. But then again, this is the company that had three different spellings for the Heleus/Helius/Helios cluster in MEA's pre-release marketing materials. ...I fail to see what one has to do with the other? If my many years of gaming has demonstrated anything is that things tend to change pre release all the time. ? It was in the material released one or two weeks before release, after the game had gone gold. You'd think they would have figured out the cluster's name by then.

Hm, hard to say. Supposedly, DA4 was rebooted to include live service, and will be built on Anthem's code base. Given BioWare's fondness of recycling, I expect a similar cosmetics shop as Anthem features. It could include anything from weapons and armour skins to additional hair styles and multiplayer "shortcuts". If DA4's live service actually contains additional story content I would be positively surprised, given how hard of a time BioWare seems to be having with Frostbite and how their Anthem roadmaps crashed and burned as a result.

You might want to have a look at Pathfinder: Kingmaker. It's an isometric RPG like the Neverwinter Nights games. Pros: - fully customizable protagonist with many races and classes - a gang of companions to chat with, argue with and romance - real time with pause combat - lets you manage your own barony/kingdom - some quality writing by Chris Avellone Cons: - some boss fights have an extreme difficulty spike (but you can adjust overall difficulty at any time) - kingdom management can be a bit stressful as you need to check your capital regularly for problems to fix (which is done by picking an advisor for the task, waiting for a number of in game days to pass, and hoping said advisor won't muck it up) To be honest, I haven't finished it yet because I'm facing one of those boss battles again, but that's just me and my refusal to lower the difficulty ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/6576594/images/RebJidSPcxyF0U0Rr0uW.png)

I finished Halo CE: Anniversary and started Halo 2: Anniversary on PC. Holy smokes, that difference in visual quality! But that last Warthog driving sequence in Halo CE: A. God Emperor's sweet mercy. I think playing as a criminal character - without any powerful organization, be it the Alliance or Cerberus as backup - might make for a refreshing change from BioWare's standard "chosen one and gang of quirky misfits snark their way to inevitable victory" fare. Maybe the actual antagonist could be some Alliance holier-than-thou who takes credit for your successes while hunting you down for whatever crime you're running from as you and your friends try to prevent some truly evil things from happening.
Your gang consists of a drug addicted sniper, a violent pyromaniac engineer and a con man on the run, and yet you all share some kind of camaraderie...
Could be fun. Don't think BioWare would ever make it though.

Poor bastards.
I bet it's not fun at all to try and get into the source code that Edmonton's "A-Team" churned out during their most murderous monster-crunch. It's always much harder to clean up someone else's mess when it comes to coding.
That said, a team of 30 may well suffice for what they are planning - most likely an overhaul of game mechanics, so no need for people who work on art assets or story writing and all that stuff.
I sympathize and wish them good luck. They might need it.

I don't think the idea of "friend or foe" applies to the relationship between EA and BioWare - it's more like master and minions. And given BioWare's recent releases and their development troubles, the master has actually been pretty darn lenient.
Between MEA and Anthem, BioWare has effectively wasted several years worth of development time, for an entire studio mind you, without producing any tangible results. Especially with Anthem, developed between 2012 and 2019, BioWare was pottering about aimlessly until 2017 and then made a barebones game in one monster crunch time that bombed spectacularly. For years, EA paid an entire studio for basically no return of investment.
Sure, EA is not blameless given how low they prioritized BioWare's access to Frostbite Engine expertise, but the practically non-existant project leadership and the resulting consequences are all on BioWare.

Physical copies were my way of getting around game censorship in Germany - for example, buying a physical copy of Sleeping Dogs from the UK made sure that I got the full English language, uncensored game. Back in the day I smuggled a copy of Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now! to one of my German relatives. I guess deliberately running over pedestrians didn't sit well with the authorities It definitely didn't, no. For the German version of the Command & Conquer series, infantry units were referred to as cyborgs, and when a tank ran over them, the blood was changed to some blackish oil and their scream to the sound of a soda can being crushed. We called it "Command & Censor". Then, when EA sold the Dead Space games here, the board protested against the dismemberment feature. EA: "But it's a core gameplay mechanic!" USK board: "Oh, okay then."

I still own a lot of physical copies from the old days, but these days I buy almost every game digitally. The very rare exception is a Collector's Edition with physical items that I really, really want.
Physical copies were my way of getting around game censorship in Germany - for example, buying a physical copy of Sleeping Dogs from the UK made sure that I got the full English language, uncensored game. However, with the USK's "old guard" retired and a younger board in place, this is no longer necessary. Even the Wolfenstein games are available here these days, swastikas and all.
I even bought digital copies of old games I own a physical disk of - to avoid the clunky DRM these old versions came with, like the godawful SecuRom of Mass Effect 1 or Dragon Age Origins' "EA authentication service" that was installed quietly on your PC to check the game's DLC. I'm glad that era is over.
