Wrath of the Righteous
After listening to the stories and advice of two ladies who clearly knew more than I did, I rejected the mythic power and went back to being an almost-normal mortal, and I haven't regretted it for one moment. The last battle of the quest that removes the mythic power was a bit hard, but it was the last one that required real effort and several attempts - I wouldn't say that I cut through everything like butter since then, but it certainly became a whole lot easier. Removing your mythic power changes your protagonist's leveling requirements (it halves the amount of XP required to level) and those changes are applied immediately, so you suddenly get about as many new level-ups as you already had so far. My character went to level 38 and now his skills and resistances are so high that most things only fail on a natural 1 without any buffs applied. He has 500+ hit points to go along with that, and after playing mostly as a buffer/debuffer (Inquisitor - Judge, picked for RP reasons to go with Aeon) I chose a fighting class to complement that (Divine Scion, essentially a paladin that gets sneak attacks) and wow, combat doesn't really worry me anymore other than the welfare of my companions.
And yeah, I'm not overly fond of the puzzles either. I don't mind the occasional one once you know how to do them (the floor tile puzzles: each row or column that has (an) extra tile(s) next to it outside the field can only contain those symbols, and tiles next to each other must have the same symbol; five buttons in the wall: there will be texts (or the mutterings of insane people, ahem) on the level that mention numbers from 0 to 6, they correspond to the number of corners the shapes have), but sometimes there's really too many of them in too short a time, and often the reward isn't really worth it.
Oh well. I'm going to go to Iz soon. It seems the place needs a good clean up.

Kelly seems just a nice girl who somehow ended up with the space nazis. Traynor is just kinda there and I find her neither annoying nor appealing.
And Liara is a different person in each game... just like Cerberus.

I never got to the end of the Wheel of Time novels. There was a book or two where it felt like the plot moved with the speed of a particularly reluctant glacier, and I stopped reading in the middle of a book because I picked up something more interesting and basically forgot that WoT exists.

Since I backed Wrath of the Righteous on Kickstarter, I wrapped up Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus so I can spend my first week in WotR's character generator. It is done, brothers. The threat has been ascertained and neutralised. My neuro-vaults overflow with relief and exaltation. Mission complete.

That poor fellow brought a scythe (a very big one admittedly) to a fight with Solar Atomizers and Torsion Cannons, and for all his airs of superiority, he died to a burst of radium rifle fire from a Skitarii Vanguard Alpha. It wasn't even a Tech-Priest that struck the killing blow. The tomb's exposed generators were bombarded from orbit and the planet torn apart.

DA2's final choice is piss poor garbage, forcing you to completely accept one side without question and totally exterminate the other. If I were a very cynical person I'd state that it caters to extremists no matter which side you pick, but the truth is probably that DA2's gameplay loop was so stripped down that this was all they could do. Where DAO had the Landsmeet, DA2 had that final slaughterfest, true to their simplified "go there, kill the things, optionally pick up the thing or talk to the person" quest gameplay. Just talking sense into people without having to kill anyone really went out of style, sadly.

Meanwhile, the "master branch" in GitHub (code repository) was renamed to "main branch". Our team lead went "wtf" and manually changed everything back to "master branch".

Pretty much all BioWare protagonists are at least about 98% humans, I just like the original paint job best, so I'd really like to go with human commoner. I'm not too thrilled about a slave origin unless I can get some kind of "Cooler King" Hilts type of personality though.
And I hope they keep their "you're on your own / the people in power and in charge are not helping you" concept. I don't want a big following or organization again, just me and my gang please. I like to focus on a small, tight circle of friends.

If Varric returns in any capacity I'll be convinced that he's the real protagonist of the Dragon Age franchise and we just played his various sidekicks. I don't get why BioWare always insists on making their worlds seem smaller than they are by having familiar faces pop up no matter where we go. It makes me wonder about how little confidence they must have in their new creations if they keep bringing back their old ones to generate player interest. It's cheap but affective. Most players seeing a familiar, friendly face will respond the same way as greeting an old friend. For Bioware, it's easier to write an already written character, and it's much easier in terms of concept art and character identification. So it's cheaper because less work goes into it. I'd love to have more new characters than returning ones, but lets be honest, if there's a large quantity there's going to be smaller quality. It'll probably mean less unique hairstyles and textures on characters that generally should have them (think like Traynor, Cortez, Gil, Suvi, Lexi etc). So if getting new characters means a large drop in character art, I'd rather just have returning characters. Also, if Varric is returning in DA4, which he probably will, you can bet your ass they're going to kill him. Be mentally prepared. It'll be either kill him or kill Dorian and commit a genocide. Just like Moridin. Mark my words. Heh, I like a friendly familiar face as much as the next guy, so I'm agreeing with that point However, we're likely going to play a different protagonist again, and I personally just don't like having to pretend that I don't know Varric and "get to know him" all over again. It gets a bit repetitive. "Tell me about the champion". "Tell me about the Inquisitor". I'd rather not. So far, returning characters (Varric, Cassandra, Zevran etc) had new character models done for them anyway, probably simply because so many years pass between the various Dragon Age games that a re-export of the old assets simply wouldn't do anymore. They do save a bit of time because the character's design is already established though, that's true. If they really kill Varric I'll never trust any of their epilogues again. "He then became viscount of Kirkwall BUT ONLY for the two years or so that passed between DAI and DA4". Not saying that it won't happen, but jeez, they need to learn to let a character and his/her storyline go. Just like we need to learn to let our old protagonists go.

Depends a bit of what kind of camp we are going to get. DAI had Skyhold, a big castle, because we were the head errant boy/girl of the Inquisition, a big organization. If we just get a small hideout for a band of quirky misfits that are mostly on their own there probably won't be much space to customize.
I'd be fine with a bunch of either-or choices that upgrade the hideout in some way, both cosmetically and game mechanically. I'd prefer a smaller base where the lack of space would force some simple but meaningful decisions, like having an armoury or an alchemy lab but not both.
That said, I actually like base building, I just don't trust BioWare to implement it well and I also think it's not something the game should put a big focus on. I already own Valheim.

I don't see a problem here. Game devs can do what they want and create any product they want. It's not up to us to tell them what to do. We merely decide whether the result is worth our time and money. Sure, we may be disappointed that a game we were really looking forward to didn't turn out the way we wanted to, but there's always something else to play.
If BioWare wants to put a bunch of polyamorous NPCs into their next game, so what? It's not like I'm being forced to partake in that particular romance after all. Yeah, it costs resources to make. But there's always NPCs that I don't spend much time with because I'm either not particular fond of them or simply because I like the others better. They cost resources too, and it would be silly to complain about their existence.

The article's comments and the petulant reaction of the staff ("Sorry you can't handle opinions. Need a tissue?") are the best part of this.
It's kinda weird that the author feels the need to point out that ten years older game A didn't age as well as much newer game B. That's just the nature of the beast, especially when technology evolves as quickly as in the video game sector.
As far as the writing goes, that's all personal preference.

Sure, but was that the case for Bioware back then? They supported ME for a few years after each release if I recall and in this particular case the amount of work is far less than it takes to build a new game (99% of the code is already there and has been reused) its not ridiculous to think bugs which were raised in 2007 would have been addressed in 2021. Sure they haven't worked on ME1 from the time it was released to now but they did have common game-breaking bugs publicly listed/raised. Work should have been done to resolve these bugs. For example the biotic bug in ME1, if you fight Saryn and you or your squadmates use power at the first stage of the fight then the game often crashes. I have had this happen to me with the original ME1 on Xbox and MELE on PC. It doesn't happen to everyone but its common enough that a lot of people have complained about it.it doesn't look like Bioware ever bothered to look at this. Or a more recent bug being ME3 can't play well over 120FPS (shield bug in which ur shield doesn't regenerate). This was flagged towards the end of the ME3 life cycle where PC's were becoming powerful enough to run the game at over 120FPS. Modern PC's can easily run the game at 240FPS consistently,the trouble is the game is broken at that frame rate and makes the experience not fun at all (funnily enough this isn't a problem with ME1 or ME2) Well, my post was more a general reply to how spaghetti code often comes to be. Also, I'd rather not fight Saryn with just a ME character, I'd get eaten by spores befor I even saw her... I'm pretty sure that you're right and BioWare never looked at any old bugs. That would have likely required quite some time and effort, since slogging through decade old code is a very slow and mind frazzling affair unless it's really well documented - I'm talking from experience here. And some of the FPS related problems might have been baked into the Unreal 3 engine itself, which already did funny things on PC in ME3MP since it incorrectly assumed that the game would always run at 30 FPS like on consoles. ME LE was likely meant to be a quick cash grab and they didn't expect super high sales, so they probably decided that going through old code was too much cost for the expected result.

Well, Shepard's story is over one way or the other, so that's very unlikely.
The trailer was mostly focused on the Milky Way, so it's unlikely to be Ryder either.
That leaves new protagonist. Which is what I'd prefer.

Spaghetti code in turn is usually caused by crunch time, as things get done in a more and more hasty manner by horribly overworked devs as the deadline looms ever closer like a ten foot bony guy in a robe with a scythe on his shoulder. And crunch time is caused by management deciding features and deadlines without consulting anyone from tech about how realistic (or not) their ideas are. The product gets delivered in a somewhat functioning state, devs go on vacation (or therapy) so someone else has to fix it, and the lesson management takes from it is "Hey it worked again" (unless it's a complete disaster like Anthem).

I think in the Mass Effect universe, humans are the most diverse species. They can be soldiers AND accountants - they don't need to hire small round people that go "ksssk ksssk" all the time to do their ledgers, nor do they need to ask Sparta with Thanix cannons for protection. And so on. Mass Effect aliens are basically just specialized humans with a different look. There's nothing really alien or particularly interesting about them.
And we all know how WW2 ended, but the games set in it still sell. But that said, I'd generally prefer for the story to go forward from where we left off in the Milky Way and not go back to a conflict that in retrospect seems fairly minor (even though it was likely a very big deal for everyone involved back then).

And even boring Blackwall beats him as least romanced character i am sorry but WTF?!?! There's probably just more people playing straight romances? I'm surprised that he wasn't that popular as a party member though, unless maybe too many people got frustrated with that spell of his that reanimates an enemy and then leaves you stuck in combat mode as long as the reanimated thing is still around...

Yeah, the fact that the wiki states that she has to give up on the Seekers is the bit I think is inaccurate. I may have a shitty memory for many things, but for DAI I remember my decisions and result quite clearly. In fact, the restoration of the Seekers, if I remember right, led to a new time of justice for everyone and was part of the reason for the Golden Age. And hearing the words "Golden Age", which pretty much means peace, harmony and prosperity for everyone, gave me the feeling of "yeah, that went pretty darn well". But I'm not here to rain on your Inspired Leliana ending, especially with her conflict solving skills I can definitely see why it appeals to many. No worries. Besides, Trespasser made that earlier epilogue obsolete anyway. Yeah... Oddly enough, the only thing from Trespasser's epilogue that I remember with clarity is Cullen walking into the sunset with his mabari. And I think I'd like to keep it that way.
